Our first market of the year will be at Coppell Farmers Market Saturday (2/8) from 8-12! Find us in the pavilion.

In bloom

We have a few early bird anemones blooming but most everything is still working on their roots. Most the crops are looking good and have made it through the cold snaps so far.

Available Starters / Seeds

Seeds: Sunflowers, zinnias, bachelor’s button, love-in-a-mist (nigella), forget-me-nots, cosmos, dara (colored queen Anne’s lace), Mexican sunflowers, gomphrena, bee balm, celosia, cock’s comb, lime basil, blue spice basil, persian basil, thai basil, purple hyacinth bean, hardy hibiscus, bupluerum, tassel flower, and marigold.

Starters: Nothing available at this time. However, we have seeded tomato (Sweet 100, Better Boy, and Bush), broccoli, cauliflower, and peppers for our early spring markets. We also made cuttings of the coleus.

Farm Tasks for the Week

Round 2 of early spring seed starters: bells of Ireland, balsam, ageratum, statice, strawflower, tassel flower, alyssum, rosemary, sage, lavendar, and thyme.

Weeding (not much there, phew!).

Working on structural projects such as extending one of the planting beds.

Chickens

The chickens had their usual slow down for the fall/winter but are starting to pick up again on laying. We added 12 new pullets in October but one was returned as it turned out to be a rooster. The baby chicks are now big enough to join the rest of the flock and it seems like it’s going well. Anticipate having eggs available for sale next week.

  • Strawberry Jam - Balsamic Strawberry Basil
