In bloom
Unfortunately, the last freeze did damage some of the ranunculus and peonies, but happily not all. The pink ranunculi are blooming up a storm this week! We also have a few daffodils and anemones (that survived the crazy Wednesday winds).
Available Starters / Seeds
Seeds: Zinnias, bachelor’s button, love-in-a-mist (nigella), forget-me-nots, cosmos, dara (colored queen Anne’s lace), Mexican sunflowers, gomphrena, bee balm, celosia, cock’s comb, lime basil, blue spice basil, Persian basil, Thai basil, purple hyacinth bean, hardy hibiscus, bupleurum, tassel flower, and marigold.
Starters: We have tomatoes (Sweet 100, Better Boy, and Bush), broccoli, cauliflower, tarragon, yarrow, apple mint, queen Anne’s lace, larkspur, and mint starters ready for purchase. The jalapenos peppers, rosemary, oregano, marjoram, curly parsley, lavender, and orange thyme still need a few more weeks before they’ll be ready.
Farm Tasks for the Week
Potting up seed starters and seeding warmer veggie and herbs for April outdoor transplant (basil, beans, cucumbers, squash, nasturtium, cantaloupe, and watermelon)
Pruned all roses by 1/2.
Pruned bushes before they send out their spring growth.
Spring bed cleanup. Removing and mulching tons and tons of leaves from all the planters. Fertilizing the bearded iris as they’re dug out of the oak leaves.
We haven’t put of freeze protection in storage yet as there is always a chance of a late freeze at least through late March.
Chickens
The chickens are laying regularly and enjoying running the chicken yard now that the weather is nicer. They’ve been enjoying a few ant piles from infested pots that I moved into their area. If you need eggs, email/text to reserve.
