We will be at the Robson Ranch Farmers Market TOMORROW Friday (3/21) from 8 am - 11 am, Keller Farmers Market Saturday (3/22) from 8-noon, and Coppell Farmers Market Saturday (3/22) from 9-12 pm.

In bloom

Ranunculus and anemones are still in bloom by the bucket this week. The fruit trees are pretty much done after all the crazy wind! We have the first handful of bluebonnets, Dutch iris, and snow drops to mix things up. Delphinium and Icelandic poppies will likely join the party next week (although there aren’t many of either, as I had difficultly starting them from seeds).

Available Starters / Seeds

Seeds: Bachelor’s button, love-in-a-mist (nigella), forget-me-nots, cosmos, dara (colored queen Anne’s lace), Mexican sunflowers, gomphrena, bee balm, celosia, cock’s comb, lime basil, blue spice basil, Persian basil, Thai basil, purple hyacinth bean, hardy hibiscus, bupleurum, tassel flower, and marigold.

Starters: We have tomatoes (Sweet 100, Better Boy, and Bush), broccoli, cauliflower, tarragon, yarrow, apple mint, queen Anne’s lace, larkspur, oregano, catnip, green beans, marjoram, curly parsley, orange thyme, and mint starters ready for purchase. The jalapenos peppers, rosemary, lavender, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, and basil still need a few more weeks before they’ll be ready.

Farm Tasks for the Week

…. Still cleaning up beds. Realistically this will likely take a few more weeks especially with the wind. Removing and mulching tons and tons of leaves from all the planters and then mulching the planters with the cut-up leaf mulch.

Put away all winterization equipment (frost cloths, wire supports, weights, and plastic covers).

Began rose fertilization. This will occur every six weeks until late fall to keep the roses happy, healthy, and blooming :)

First hydrangea fertilization of the season. Next application of fertilizer will be roughly the 3rd week of April and final one the 1st week of May.

Trimmed liriope an inch or so to the ground to clear out old growth before the new sprouts.

Chickens

The chickens are laying regularly and enjoying the leaves and stem cuttings from the cut flowers. If you need eggs, email/text to reserve.
